Laundry photography

A photographer’s dream photo shoot; a laundry! All those crisp, white, clean and bright sheets are a challenge-and-a-half for exposure and white balance freaks. White Cloud Laundry has to be Cornwall’s finest, with a client list many launderers can only dream of; Hotel Tresanton, and Driftwood Hotel (to name but a few) are very particular when it comes to pressing their 400 percale bed linen, and fluffing up their astonishingly high gsm towels. I had long wanted to do this shoot, and when Meg Weir at White Cloud approached me, I bit her hand off. The brief from Pickle Design, Wadebridge, was to provide images which reflected the beautifully laundered linen and the care taken in providing the service. With many thanks to the staff at HQ St Erme, Truro. Special thanks to Eva, the baby in the laundry bin, whose mid-morning nap was disturbed by the photographer.
